Even with pro-democracy protests in the Middle East driving up oil prices, the Fed’s board said its inflation rate over the long term will remain stable. The U.S. central bank said its benchmark federal funds rate would remain at between 0-0.25 per cent. The Fed would also continue a plan to buy up 600 billion dollars in government bonds by the end of June.
